Glenn Davidson

Glenn Davidson - Sitges

Glenn Davidson – Sitges, Barcelona, Spain

Glenn’s parents are British and he was born in Australia, at the age of 3 his family moved back to the UK where he was brought up, this makes him the proud owner of two passports and two nationalities! Glenn can be Australian or British, depending on his mood (or which country is leading the way in an international sporting event!)

Maybe it is this cosmopolitan background that made Glenn such an adventurer and avid traveller... Glenn left his home town in East Lancashire when he was 18 and moved to Manchester, 2 years later he moved to London and then for the next 15 years he spent large amounts of time living in the USA, Australia, Cuba and Holland.

In 2003 Glenn decided to settle down for good in sunny Sitges, a beautiful seaside town in the suburbs of Barcelona. Having visited Sitges many times on holiday, Glenn knew that out of all the places he had lived and visited, Sitges was his spiritual home.

Not one to let the grass grow under his feet, in the last 11 years Glenn has worked tirelessly within the Sitges community - providing accommodation for people requiring short and long term rentals, editing Sitges's leading multi language Magazine Guide, establishing a ''live and learn Spanish'' program and organizing Sitges based events such as significant birthdays, weddings and large club events and shows.

Glenn is hard working, experienced and conscientious, he knows a lot about the property market in Sitges and is very well connected, which is why we are thrilled to have him lead Outlets expansion in to Spain.

Outlet now offer the following services in Sitges for people looking for holiday lets, business and residential lets, business and property sales as well as residential, business and holiday property management.

With our experienced team of English speaking Bankers, Estate Agents and Lawyers, all of whom are experts in this field, we can help overseas buyers to obtain loans and guide them through all the red tape and paperwork – this can put our clients mind at rest, knowing that that they are in safe hands.

Glenn Davidson - Q and A

What inspired you to work in property?

From a very early age I have had an interest in property, architecture and interior design. When we first started Outlet back in 1995, we focused mainly on a ground breaking computer based matching service for people offering and looking for rooms. From there the business grew to what it is today, as did my interest and knowledge of property sales, rentals and management.

What services do you offer or specialise in relating to property?

I have been offering holiday accommodation in Sitges since I moved here in 2003, this came easy to me as I had become quite an expert having already done this kind of work with Outlet in London since 1995.

Now I am a more traditional estate agent offering a full package, I can help customers find the right kind of property for their needs.

I am a great listener and will always work within a clients brief. Now that I have lived in Sitges for over 11 years and spent the majority of my time working in property, I can expertly advise and guide a client.

No matter how big or small a clients budget, I will work to get the most for their money. When buying, renting or selling property, be it residential or business, you need a good team of local experts with years of training and experience behind them. I have chosen Sitges's finest professionals to work for Outlet and our clients, so we can offer our customers the best service possible.

First bit of advice... Due to the terrible recession Spain is currently experiencing, property prices are crashing, so if you are looking to invest in Sitges, you couldn't have chosen a better time!

Where is your favourite place to live in your city?

In an attic, with large outdoor space and sea views in the San Sebastian area. It is still very central yet it is quiet and peaceful. 1 minute from my favourite beach and equal distance to the suave and sophisticated port, the old town and the new part of town where all the lively bars are located.

What are your favourite things to do in Sitges? Why should people live there?

Eat great food - from a delicious set 3 course menus for 10 Euros to top notch cuisine in some of Catalans most well known (and expensive) restaurants, where you are likely to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. I also enjoy the informal and traditional tapas bars, where you just eat what you want from the bar and the barmen keeps a tally of what you have had and then charges you at the end.

Fiestas – Sitges has dozens of major events and fiestas throughout the year, from Carnaval in February, Gay Pride in June, Fiesta Major in August and the International Horror and Sc-Fi Film Festival in October. This is just a snippet of what is on offer, there are lots more, far too many to mention.

Drink – Sitges is surrounded by Penedes, the world famous wine growing region of Catalunia. If you like wine then you will love the many wine bars and cafes that offer a large selection of wines from here and around the world.

Barcelona – If you fancy a bit of city life, then jump on a train and you will be in central Barcelona in about 35 minutes. Barcelona is a great city that usually comes in the top 3 best international city to go and visit.

What do you find inspirational as a place or building in your city?

The beach is my most inspirational and moving place to be, especially during the Autumn, Winter and Spring. There is nothing better than taking my dog for a long walk along the sandy beaches of Sitges. After living here for more than ten years, I still feel privileged and lucky to be in such a beautiful and peaceful place – Not so peaceful in the summer months though.... The crowds of tourists are a welcome distraction for us all in the summer months, but we all sigh a gasp of relief when it gets to Autumn and we get our little town back to normal again.

Best night out in Sitges?

Night out? Me? Mmm, I am more early evening than night out these days. OK, well, I would highly recommend stripping down to your swim wear and throwing yourself on to one of the fabulous top of the range sun lounger at El Vivero, which is a huge terrace bar that is perched on the side of a cliff on the water’s edge. Try and get there for about 6pm in time for sun down, have the waiter bring you a Frozen Margarita and enjoy the last of the days sunshine. Chill out to the music and enjoy the company of good friends and family. You can go into a pleasure trance while enjoying the view of the port to the left and the famous Sitges Church and San Sebastain Beach to the right. HEAVEN

Favourite motto?

Live and let live.

Glenn likes:

Cuddling up on the sofa with Rio, my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Sitges in the spring and autumn, London in the summer, Andorra in the winter, travelling the world and discovering new places, cultures and traditions.

Glenn dislikes:

Traffic, commuting, inequality, conflict, greed, hunger and the unfair distribution of wealth throughout the world. Now I'm starting to sound like an entrant for Miss World....
