Living in Fitzrovia
Discover a London community built around a mix of commercial success and individualistic artistry
A West End area of the capital with a real difference, Fitzrovia has long been a place that is built around the people and not the place. With a nice mix of commercial and residential space in Fitzrovia, as well as a blooming arts scene, it brings together a wonderful little mix of people from different walks of life to create a wonderful community that really brings the place to life.
Fitzrovia property
Fitzrovia has some fine Georgian houses, as well as mews properties, although apartment blocks and attractive flats for sale or rent are more widely available. Among these blocks are a good number of serviced apartments, with facilities varying from standard all the way through to luxury. More details are on our Fitzrovia serviced apartments page
Both long terms rentals and short lets are available in Fitzrovia, and it’s a favoured vacation/holiday rental destination as well. Commercial rents are also more affordable than on the other side of Oxford Street, making it a magnet for many businesses, whether for short-term or long-term lets.

Sights around Fitzrovia
Fitzrovia has been seen over the past few years as something of a burgeoning hot spot for art in the capital. While it was previously never uttered in the same breath as other places, the arrival of the likes of Modern Art, Approach W1 and Alison Jacques have all helped bring the area to life in the arts scene. One of the highlights of this is the Fitzrovia Lates campaign, which sees galleries open until 9pm on the last Thursday of every month, with artist talks, masterclasses and special exhibitions on offer. It's one that has to be seen to be believed.
It may well be located in the West End, but that doesn't mean Fitzrovia shares the flamboyant and fast-paced way of life that the rest of the area does. In fact, it's much easier to mix business with pleasure in Fitzrovia for those who live and work there. From the array of commercial office spaces to some fantastic cafes, bars and restaurants, it really is easy to get the work-life balance spot on in Fitzrovia.
While it might not share the same atmosphere you might find in the rest of the West End, that's not to say that Fitzrovia has totally abandoned its theatrical heritage altogether. Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road is one of the best places in the West End to see some fantastic shows, and the street is also home to some wonderful retail outlets to keep you more than busy until the curtains are raised.

Great places to...
Eat
Roka
37 Charlotte Street
Restaurants are one of the cornerstones of what Fitzrovia is all about, so finding just one in which to indulge is a difficult ask. However, there are few places that will be as good to eat as Roka. The Japanese eatery has become a favourite across London, with four different branches now open, but Fitzrovia is a great place to sample its elaborate yet pricey Japanese delights in a wonderfully decorated restaurant that just makes you want to spend all night dining.

Drink
Bradley's Spanish Bar
42-44 Hanway Street
It's probably one of those places that most people would simply walk past without giving a second glance, but Bradley's is something of an institution, not only on Fitzrovia, but across the whole of London. The basement bar may be somewhat dingy, but that's part of the charm, and you'll soon forget it as you sing along to the wonderful 60s jukebox.
