Living in King’s Cross, London
Embrace your creative side in King’s Cross.
Once an industrial wasteland with a seedy character, King’s Cross has undergone one of the more remarkable rejuvenations in London’s recent history. Gone are the squats and drug dens, replaced by international cuisine, cool bars and a blossoming art scene. It’s also much more than just a transport hub, with plenty of stunning Grade 1 listed buildings, creative spaces and places to enjoy the unique culture of London.
King’s Cross property
Despite its relatively central location and superb transport links, King’s Cross was for many years somewhat shabby and neglected when it came to property. Not any more.
The area around the station is being completely transformed, with 2,000 new homes built or new completion, 67 acres of land reclaimed (26 of them designated as open space), 20 new streets, and even a brand new postcode - N1C.
Many of the latest properties are set in new buildings built by big name architects, and you’ll find plenty to choose from, from stunning penthouses through to reclaimed lofts, and one or two bedroom apartments, as well as student housing.
There are also some nice Georgian conversions in the surrounding streets, plus early Victorian houses around Caledonian Road, Pentonville Road and York Way. A little further west, and slightly more affordable, but set to rise quickly, is Somers Town.

The Neighbours
The next Damien Hirst might be the man you see at the bus stop every morning. The band practicing next door could be on the verge of their big break. King’s Cross just attracts the kind of people who are born creative, to an infuriating level.

Sights around Kings Cross
You’re never too far away from anywhere else in King’s Cross. Whether you’ve got friends in the south, east or west of the city, the incredible transport links from the two central stations will keep you well connected.
There’s no shortage of artistic flair in this district. From the stylish renovation of King’s Cross station to the colourful graffiti that adorns the streets, there’s always something creative to appreciate. Being a central transport hub, some have a tendency to think that King’s Cross is constantly filled with tourists, but this is not completely so. Many who come to London see it as a way into the city, and then move on to other areas, leaving you free to enjoy the finer things in King’s Cross.

Great places to...
Eat
Camino
The Regent’s Quarter
Keep it Spanish and head over to Camino after a little too much sherry in Bar Pepito (read on to discover). The wine list is long and award winning, the tapas is creative and delicious, and the all round feel of the place is just warm and welcoming, what more do you want? Spanish craft beer? They’ve got that too. Authentic sangria? Check. It’s a bar, it’s a restaurant; it’s just a great place to hang out, have fun and fill up.

Drink
King Charles I
55-57 Northdown St.
Pubs don’t come much more authentic than this place. Settle down next to the roaring fireplace with a your chosen tipple and enjoy the ambience of a charming London boozer. Specialising in rare ales and whiskies, this is a pub for people who know their drink and like experimenting with new tastes. It’s the kind of place you’ll take your dad the next time he visits. Tribal masks and deer heads stare out from the varnished wooden walls to give the King Charles a small dose of quirk to go with its homeliness.

This cafe/bar/shop/art studio has managed to take quirkiness to the next level, which is no mean feat in this fair city. Everything you can see is actually on sale, from garish bangles and weird jewellery to funky tote bags and bizarre art. As well as the novel shopping experience, you can stop buy for a coffee or get hands on with an art class.

How often do you visit a real life sherry bar? Probably not that often, but there’s a first time for everything. Step into this Spanish bodega and sample the finest tastes Andalusia has to offer. The road trip offer includes six different sherries and is a great introduction to the tasty tipple. If you’re feeling peckish, order from the varied tapas menu. You’ll need something to wash down with all that sweet sweet sherry.

Be it music, theatre, comedy or dance, there’s always something creative going on inside this sparse, wooden hall.
