Jonothan Dymond

Jonothan Dymond – Property Consultant

Born in Hackney (but not hackneyed), in the year England won the world cup, not that I follow football. I'm a Cockney and therefore a real 'EastEnder' with good old fashioned values and a bit of a Dymond in the rough, if you'll excuse the pun.

My claim to fame is going to the same school as Michael Caine (a few decades later I hasten to add) and towards its end being labelled the 'worst school in Britain'. Luckily for me Chinese proverbs ring true and when they say 'the strongest steel is forged in the hottest fire', it kind of all makes sense :)

A chartered management accountant by trade, I've spent quite a few years in the city within varying industries, from building contractors and property investment, through fine wines and spirits, to wealthy shipping tycoons, banking and mortgages. After all this and a recent around the world soul searching expedition, I've decided to let my heart lead for a while and pursue a real love of mine, our homes. When they say an Englishman's home is his castle, I say, why limit it to Englishman and castles, surely we should all have the opportunity to have some FUN with our homes.

Jonothan Dymond- Q and A

What inspired you to work in property?

I was "born 'n' bred in London" (an old fashioned East End phrase) and I've pretty much lived here all my life. Being able to walk through its streets and admire the buildings and gardens. Simply put, I love architecture, from little 'Hobbit' houses, through to grand design's, I adore them all. When I was a child, I used to build houses out of Lego bricks and as soon as I was finished, I would re-build them, making all the changes I should have incorporated in my original design. Now that I've done my time in finance, I want to enjoy the rest of my life doing something I'm truly passionate about.

What values do you feel are important in working for Outlet?

For me that's easy, it's all about helping people. It's something I've always done and will continue to do, wherever I am

Where is your favourite place to live in London?

I'd have to say Greenwich, it's where time begins! Despite living in Dulwich and Forest Hill for the past twenty five years, I love the fact you get a palace, water, boats, a royal park, museum's, an observatory, amazing views across London, woods, heath land, a Sunday market and more history than you can imagine all in one place.

What are your favourite things to do in London?

It has to be a night at the RoyalAlbert Hall, the Royal Opera House or one of London's plethora of theatres, followed by a light late night supper at The Ivy and then a quick change of clothes in the car, before hitting a swanky bar or nightclub (Yes I have been known to do all three, 'Power-Nap' permitting!)

Best night out in London?

Sorry but I can't give that away. Needless to say, too many to mention and ALL of the above!

Favourite motto?

I have quite a few - "The early bird catches the worm", "Switch off the television and do something less boring instead!!", "The key to good salesmanship is to put yourself in your customer's shoes", "Win: Win scenario", "Live long and prosper", No guessing where that comes from

Jonothan likes:

Good company, good food, good wine, good service, good weather and everything else that comes with that. I enjoy renovating properties and garden design (I have my own secret garden now)

Jonothan dislikes:

The opposite of the above, noisy restaurants, queue-jumpers (what's that about, we all have to do it right?) and "Leaves on the line...", really!?!?
