West London Area Guide

West London - business or leisure, it's a pleasure

You know the old cliché about somewhere being an area of contrasts? Well, we hesitate to say to say it, even though it’s true of pretty much everywhere in the capital, but when it comes to West London, you just can’t get away from it.

Try this for size: it’s one of the most serious business areas in town, convenient for Heathrow Airport and the Thames Valley on the one side, and handy for the West End and City on the other. No wonder it’s chock-full of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the headquarters of plenty of large ones.

Yet at the same time, it’s simply massive when it comes to shopping; bigger, perhaps than even the West End. You’ve got Westfield, said to be the third largest shopping centre in the UK. You also have Portobello Market – all two miles of it, from low-grade bric-a-brac at the top to high end antiques at the bottom. And don’t forget the famous retail names of Kensington High Street and South Kensington either.

And if all that business and buying gets too much, West London is also blessed with wide open spaces and parks. Lots and lots of them. Kensington Gardens and Holland Park at the posher end, with Ealing Common and Barnes Common at the slightly more, er, common end. And along the way, there are any number of beautiful corners and welcoming pubs along the river as it snakes west.

Business-like and pleasure-oriented, bustling and peaceful, that’s West London.

There’s no lack of contrasting places to love as well, from grand Victorian houses in Holland Park through to fantastic Kensington apartments and more affordable properties in Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith. Both houses and flats are plentiful, whether for buying or for long-term or short-term rentals.

The latest artists play at venues like the Hammersmith Apollo. Long-gone ones are of course more likely to be seen in the many Kensington Galleries and Victorian museums of South Kensington.

So give West London some serious thought. Whatever you’re looking for, chances are you can find it there. Whether you’re looking to rent or buy, let or sell, we can help. We also offer first-rate property management service
