South London Area Guide

South London  - head south and settle for good, so they say

The residential areas of South London such as Putney, Wandsworth and Stockwell have a community feel, as if they were towns or villages in their own right. Probably because that’s exactly what they once were.  Battersea Power Station has become a London landmark and is neighbour to another, much loved, institution, Battersea Dogs’ Home.

Areas such as Clapham and Balham offer a relatively affordable London and are often a landing point for people moving to the city from elsewhere. They’re also popular with a younger demographic, who enjoy their gastro-pubs and bars with comfy sofas.

Brixton is an area growing in popularity with the trendy set, helping to shake off its previously less than desirable image. Greenwich is home to several South London landmarks, including the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory and The Prime Meridian - the line which marks the start of each day officially. There are plenty of fine ways of ending the day nearby too, as well as in the bars and restaurants around Waterloo and London Bridge.

The South Bank, setting for some of the city’s most stunning architecture, provides a bustling strip of activity, attractions, theatres, galleries, museums and eating places, and it’s possible to spend a whole weekend there without experiencing more than a fraction of what’s on offer along this part of the riverside.

But why just spend a weekend when you can be there on a permanent basis? Make the move to South London, and like many South Londoners, you may find yourself happily there for good – it’s that special.

Certainly South London is blessed with many properties of all kinds, from sprawling Victorian houses suitable for the largest family through to a seemingly endless range of conversions of all shapes and sizes, along with many purpose-built properties.

In this part of town there are as many properties to rent, either long- or short-term, as there are to buy, and here at Outlet we always have a good selection to ponder. We also manage many properties in South London - for details, please see our property management page
