If you’re not familiar with London, the West End is essentially the ‘uptown’ area OF Central London. The term West End was first used in the early nineteenth century, and has always been the preferred place for the well-off to live and relax – for one thing it was usually upwind of the smoke from the crowded City and East End areas.
It was also located near to the royal seat of power at Westminster, and was originally a series of palaces, townhouses, fashionable shops and centres of entertainment. Today, it’s still the most desirable region of London; the place to work, shop , play and, above all, live. It also houses the headquarters or local office of almost any major company you could think, with the exception of banks and other financial sector businesses, which tend to be further east.
